Dearest Jaime,

I work here. My official title is ‘social media and analytics coordinator.’ My job has two parts:

One week a month, I compile Google Analytics reports for all of our clients who…request them. Sometimes this is as easy as pulling eight little PDFs and combining the files. Sometimes the client has 900thousand goals set and their reports are a billionty pages. Sometimes I get to talk to the clients about their websites. That doesn’t happen that often.
The rest of my time is spent in social media. This can be as little as checking a client’s Facebook page once a day to make sure they aren’t totally messing up. This can be as much as developing messaging and editorial calendars. Sometimes I do a little research to figure out what the next big ‘thing’ is going to be. Sometimes I watch Old Spice videos because the guy is hot. Sometimes I get to be really creative and develop contests and all that jazz.

Do I miss the non-profit world? Yes. Having clients-plural versus working for one company is something I’m getting used to and I REALLY miss things like developing programming and planning events. But there’s way less, uh, BS I have to wade through right now. And my manager is AWESOME. And I do love my job.

So there’s that.

Not that I’m particularly a fan of Great White. They did have that tragic show at The Station where a bunch of fans died because of a fire in the venue and it spawned an EXCELLENT Law and Order Episode (wow, don’t mind me. I sound like a jerk). But….

NEXT WEEK IS SHARK WEEK!

If you don’t know me by now, you will never ever ever know that I’m a huge fan of sharks.

I said yesterday that I was not a big fan of covers. That’s a lie. Plus I remembered thoroughly enjoying Meghan’s covers show on KJHK a few years ago, which was an excellently themed show.

Today’s song of the day is one of my favorite covers. The song is Nouvelle Vague’s “In a Manner of Speaking” from 2004. Most people know by now that they’re a French group who covered punk and new wave music. I love the original by Tuxedomoon (video here) but this cover is gorgeous and probably one of my most favorite songs. Ever.
